Braids For Brides

We are seeing braids all over the place lately and we cannot get enough. They are beautiful and can be worn for any type of wedding, so we put together a little inspiration for those who adore these creations as much as we do.

The crown braid is effortlessly elegant. Fits into nearly any wedding style, it can be tight and neat or pulled with loose hanging curls to make it more rustic looking. Every girl loves a crown and places little flowers in between is something we absolutely adore for this bridal hair look.

Fishtail braids are a wonderful way to have your hair when you are wanting it out the way but still want to show the gorgeous length you have. Wonderful for country weddings and always looking magical from all angles.

Side braids can also be a wonderful way to incorporate your flowers into. By simply pushing a few pulled flowers from your bouquet into it, it makes for wonderful photos and really brings a summer feel to your big day. Why not try a loose pulled braid, keeping the shape of the braid but keeping it loose with fly away hairs but create a beautiful look for those rustic country brides.

A lot of brides are going for hair down instead of up so show off their long locks but braiding front parts back and wrapping it around, with big loose waves makes for a glorious wedding hairstyle. This makes us dream of a more laid back perhaps beach wedding with flowing curls in the wind. Keeping your hair off your face as the breeze blows and making for romantic photos as the sun sets.

For those brides who love a big flowing ponytail, you can create a stunning hairstyle with braiding parts of your hair back into it. Fabulous for festival or boho weddings, not perfectly crafted but from any angle it looks dramatic and you'll always look back on your photos and think wow my hair looks fabulous.

And to peak your bridal inspiration taste buds we gave a few ideas for the perfect wedding dresses to wear with your beautiful braids. Our beautiful detailed Claire Pettibone gowns, Prairie Rose and Wyoming. The floating elegance of Esme from Naomi Neoh and our newly landed Ophelia by JML that adds a bit of sparkle to your chilled vibe dress.

There are endless ideas when it comes to bridal hair but right now we are all about the chilled vibes of braids...which is your favourite?

Festival Wedding

We absolutely love festival vibes at a wedding. Live music, homemade decorations, flowers everywhere and everyone having the best time. As the sunshine gets brighter we felt now is the perfect time to inspire you with out festival wedding vision.

Our Claire Pettibone dress, Georgia is our lady of the moment in our day dream with her delicate lace details and beautifully fitted shape it's perfect for the chilled out vibes and easy flowing music of the big day. Effortlessly fitting in with the bright colours around her and light as a feather she is the obvious choice for the bride of the day.

Even though it's a chilled out atmosphere you can't say no to a beautiful sparkling, eye catching pair of shoes. Emmy Shoes are perfect for this theme and help us no matter what we prefer. For those who needs heels we chose our shoes to be out something blue with Eva. For those who want to dance until the sun comes back up, we chose Carine. A super cute pair of sparkly flats. And for those who want the height but also the comfort and not to sink into the ground, we selected Leila, the ivory wedge wonders!

Festivals are always about bright colours, standing out and the odd quirky details. There can never be enough colour at a wedding, the bouquets are bright and blossoming, a back drop of flowers to say I do against and get that perfect wedding shot, and of course, the brightest cake that makes everyone smile and say wow! And for that memorable, stand out detail...why not welcome a Prosecco van to your day, keeping the bubbles flowing while you enjoy the sunshine and laugh with your loved ones.

Jackie in her Justin Alexander

Jackie's Testimonial

Our  wedding wasn’t planned to be a ‘normal’ wedding....it was a celebration.... a party.... a gathering of friends and family.... an informal event for everyone to have fun, catch up and in some cases, meet for the first time.

I wasn’t really looking forward to the wedding dress hunting day.  I’m a bit of a tom boy – not really into dresses, hair and makeup and lack self confidence when it comes to my figure and looks.  I thought I knew the sort of dress that I wanted:  plain and understated.

Our wedding day was pretty much planned – a church wedding and then to a National Trust house on the Helford River for a picnic and outdoor games on the lawn.  The dress needed to be ‘fit for purpose’ for both venues.

My ‘support crew’ and I decided that I should try on all styles – this was the only time I was going to wear a wedding dress – so may as well enjoy the experience.  So the girls and mum were let loose.

Tash was fantastic.  She gave me all the time I needed to walk up and down, again and again – giving honest feedback on each and every dress.  There were many aspects to the Bridal House experience that I liked – but one to mention at this point is the boudoir – the catwalk, lighting and mirrors are great – so you can see all aspects of the dresses/you!

I think I tried on about 9 – and then I tried on one in particular – looked at everyone – they were crying!.... and then so was I – and I believe Tash also had a tear.  This was the one.  I remember stating that I looked like a princess....

However, me being me, I went to another supplier just to check what else was out there – and had the most terrible experience!  So we went back to the Bridal House – got my shortlist of dresses out, tried them on, and then tried them on some more – and narrowed it down to 2.  Poor Tash!

So – time was ticking away and Tash reminded me that I had to make a decision by the end of February due to the delivery time. So back I went and tried on the final 2. Decision made.  It was the teary dress – as I knew all along! Justin Alexander 8753! Bling bling and more bling.  Everything that I said I wouldn’t have. Hilarious.

A veil was also chosen as the train on the dress was ‘conservative’ (allowing for the outdoor games...) so it was agreed that I needed a veil for impact as I walked down the aisle.  The King Charles the Martyr Church in Falmouth is a beautiful large church – with an impressive aisle.

It was all ordered up – along with my shoes – dress fittings booked in and that was it.  So stress free!

The dress fitting experience was a laugh – it seemed months since I had seen the dress (although I remember popping in one lunch break to check I still liked it).  The seamstress was so knowledgeable – and I felt at complete ease with what she proposed to do.  I was lucky – not a vast amount had to be done – just a little uplift J.

The dress, hair and makeup were kept secret from all apart from my mum and sister and 2 close friends. When I walked into the church I think everyone was amazed....  Justin was in tears...  I felt amazing and if I say so myself, looked beautiful.

The day itself was perfect.  Just perfect.  Everything that we had wished for.  The weather was amazing – despite being at the end of September – I think we had summer on that day.  The picnic was fabulous (can I plug Kerra’s Catering at this point who also did our hog roast – absolutely fantastic).  Everyone entered into the spirit in which we had planned it.  The photos (Toby Weller – again, highly recommended) just summed it up – lots of laughs, fun and games.

I didn’t want to take my dress off.  I felt amazing in it all day...  Justin’s plan is that I wear it every anniversary.  Yeah,  we’ll see...

Thank you to each and every one of you at The Bridal House for giving such a friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and honest experience.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

With only 4 more sleeps till Christmas we thought your Monday needed some festive spirit to make those of you working this week, feel a bit more excited for Christmas Day.

I know we would love to have a white christmas but not everyone is that lucky, but we can imagine it. And what a wonderful thing it would be to have a white snowy wedding day. We can't think of anything more romantic!

The lovely Stephanie modelling our Taylor by Decorum dress is a winter dream in the snow with festive themed bouquets and pastel surroundings. All wonderfully shot by the super talented Emma Griffin from Griffin Photography. Adding a bit of warmth to the wedding day outfit with our feather shrugs, Milan and London by Joan Lee creates a fabulous winter statement that makes the outfit even more dreamy.

If you're having a christmas wedding we would LOVE to hear your stories, but what do you think about this winter theme?

Real Bride Story - Christina & Alex

"Alex and I met in 2011 after I had moved in the house across the street from him. From neighbours to friends, we became inseparable since the day we met.  He proposed to me in April 2014, and we couldn't wait to start planning our big day.  We were married at the Gates on Roblin, a beautiful venue overlooking the river in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  We wanted to have a formal garden themed wedding...flowers, flowers and more flowers!  Our colours for our big day were blush and gold.  We wanted a more informal look for our wedding party, so each of the bridesmaids wore different pink coloured dresses, and our groomsmen wore different outfits, all with a hint of pink.

The outdoor ceremony was both intimate and lovely. The weather was hot - about 34C that day - and our wedding programs doubled as fans to keep out guests cool for the duration of the short ceremony.  Following the ceremony, we hosted a cocktail reception on the huge outdoor deck overlooking the river.  Guests enjoyed music and champagne before the reception began.

We wanted our reception to be elegant and classy.  We opted to skip most of the wedding traditions; we did not have a head table, nor formal dinner, no speeches, no children, and no bouquet tosses or bride and groom's first dance.  Rather, we hosted a cocktail reception with delicious foods like salmon tartar, ahi tuna tataki, and beef carpaccio canapĂ©. We had done a wine tasting months before-hand and picked a delicious Argentinian Malbec and a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc.  We wanted to spend more time socializing with our guests, so there was no formal sit-down for supper.  In lieu of dancing to "our song" (Falling Slowly, Glen Hasgard), we decided to perform it instead.  We both sang together, and my husband played the guitar and I played the piano.  We loved the intimacy of the performance (and rehearsing together was a load of fun too!).  We had hand selected our entire playlist for the evening; our DJ did a fantastic job of keeping the mood light with our indie pop selections.  We wanted our guests to feel as though they were at a party, and a party it was!  Dancing got underway near the end of the evening, and before the lights went down and the music turned up; we had everyone gather on the outdoor deck one more time for a fantastic 15-minute fireworks show - another surprise we had in store for our guests.

What a wonderful day it was!

I received many (many!) compliments on my lovely Naomi Neoh "Peony" gown.  It fit my curvy figure perfectly, and I felt very pretty wearing it.  It was a very hot day, and the dress was light and airy so I really did not feel the heat (not like my husband in his 3-piece suit!).   It was a very windy day, and my dress and hair were flowing making for lovely pictures and dramatic video!  We had two photographers and two videographers and they all said I picked the perfect dress for the day.

A huge Thank you to the Bridal House of Cornwall for your wonderful service.  They sold me my beautiful gown and had a gorgeous matching veil made which looked beautiful with my flower crown.  I couldn't have been more pleased!!"

A wonderful romantic story by our over seas bride, congratulation on your big day, you look AMAZING in your Naomi Neoh gown!

St.Ives Wedding Fayre

As some of you may know if you had been there or seen it advertised on facebook there was a Wedding Fayre in St.Ives on sunday at the Harbour Hotel. (amazing venue if you haven't checked it out) Like the last wedding fayre we took part in the catwalk show and feature our favourite dresses from our boutique on some stunning models and it was the first chance to show off some new arrivals. The new Claire Pettibones' went down a storm and were shown off in all their glory, also enhanced by some creative glitz by the girls from Dollface Make Up that crafted some magical masterpieces.

We can't wait for the next big show where we will have all our new collections in to show off to you all and help you find the perfect dress for the big day!

Another wonderful Wedding Fayre organised by Super Duper Wedding Events and photographed by the super talented Griffin Photography. BIG thanks to all our models for rocking our dresses so perfectly and hope we can make the next one even bigger!
